Long Weekend Packing

I'm sure we have all fallen victim to the over packing syndrome. It goes a little something like this: We don't know to what extent how much we will need, so then we pack, well, everything! Only to return for holidays to note we only made a small dent in the amount of clothes we actually brought. Not everyone is an experienced packer and like always, we could use some pointers to help functionally pack for long weekends at the cabin or cities abroad.

The team here at MAD have gathered some basic necessities that you can use to build outfits without having to pack your entire closet. Depending on the nature of your vacation, you may of course find yourself needing other things than the items we will mention.

1) BASICS- Your white tee doesn't get enough credit. Whether it be with jeans, work wear, at the beach, or even as your pajamas, he's there and always looks chic. Which is why you can never have too many basic items as such ready to go, but also because they are light and small to pack. We paired our neon cotton tank with white jeans, cute sandals, and some great chunky bangles. All together simple and stylish, and ready to be dismantled and transformed into another easy outfit.

At the cabin? White jeans are never a good idea, regular jeans will suffice. Because your clothing will be so simple, try bringing sandals with embellishment, studs, straps, or bright colored to still maintain fashionable casual comfort.

2) ACCESSORIES- Now that you've picked a FEW of your favorite basics tees, tanks and bottoms, pick some jewelry to jazz up your outfits. Some think that going out for dinner or out dancing requires a dress. However, a dress can be difficult to pack and wrinkles can potentially be a nightmare. So we dare you to consider building from your basics by pairing one of your favorite heels with a jean/skirt/short and a basic top and adding some jewelry. Just perfect!

At the cabin? Jewelry is also a big no. Your best accessories will be sunscreen and a hat! A fedora is a great option!

A maxi dress is also a great staple, its not only super comfortable, but you can wear it with flats during the day then a pair of wedges in the evening to dress is up!

Bringing one of your favorite blazers/jackets is also a must. Worn again over your basics make your outfit more refined. Or your favorite cozy sweater for the cabin. But remember, just one! The key to all of this is to plan your outfits, and picking pieces that can be used again in another way for another day.

All items used in our photo shoot are available at Mad About Style!
Have a great long weekend!
